OUR MIND BLOWING TIPS FOR A TASTY TIRAMISU

Tiramisu is a celebrity of Italian dessert culture, that’s why it simply has to be a must-have in our Delitaly’s assortment. With every bite of our tasty tradition, you’ll experience the essence of a long standing Italian cuisine heritage which embodies elegance, simplicity and an irresistible creamy taste. It is Tiramisu’s decadent and luxurious layered textures of mascarpone, contrasted with espresso dipped ladyfingers and unsweetened cocoa, which makes it wonderfully flavoursome and intense. With a bit of help it can be effortlessly made to perfection if we consider the following points.

1. DON’T SOAK YOUR LADYFINGERS!

Quickly dip the ladyfingers into your coffee or coffee/liquor. As overly soggy biscuits make for a wet and runny texture which leads to a disastrous messy dessert that completely falls apart on the plate.

2. STICK TO THE REAL DEAL

Don’t be tempted by substituting mascarpone and high quality espresso for single cream or instant coffee as this affects texture, consistency and the final taste.

3. BE DARING!

Make a non-coffee version and experiment with fruit purees or natural juices to give your tiramisu an extra light flavour. But be sure to dip those ladyfingers in a bit longer than usual as they don’t soak up the liquid as quickly as espresso.

4. SWITCH UP THE LAYERS

When building your tiramisu, one trick is to criss-cross ladyfinger layers to create a sturdier and more even dessert. This allows for easier cutting and better presentation.

5. BE PATIENT!

Once you whip it up, cover and refrigerate for at least 6 hours before serving. This time allows the ladyfingers a chance to soak up flavour and moisture from the coffee, alcohol and filling. If you are making a fruity non-coffee version, be sure to leave it in for an extra few hours.

6. SPARE THE SUGAR!

An Italian tiramisu uses less sweet stuff than the desserts most of us are accustomed to having. So don’t be apprehensive to cut it down.

7. ALCOHOL FREE

Contrary to popular belief, alcohol isn’t always needed to make a delicious tiramisu. How good a tiramisu turns out to be depends greatly on the ingredients and method.
