Our Pesto and Sugo are handmade with just a handful of fresh ingredients the authentic Italian way. Even though it tastes amazing with traditional pasta, it can be used in zillions of ways. Here are just a few tips to broaden your pesto horizons.
Add zest to an average vegetable or meaty soup. With a spoonful of green or red pesto it’ll bring a burst of new flavour! Just take the soup off the heat and before serving, add in your spoonful of green or red pesto. It’ll taste good and make your soup look extra pretty!
Pesto adds extra flavour that really takes a sandwich to a new taste sensation. Spread pesto on toasted buns, baguette, or regular sliced bread alongside mozzarella and tomato, or sliced chicken with goat cheese, or spinach. The texture of our pesto adds that extra moisture to make every bite a juicy delight.
Instead of the traditional tomato sauce, spread a thin layer of pesto onto your preferred pizza bread base – pizza dough, pita bread, naan, focaccia, and bagels. Then simply layer on your veggies, meat and cheese. It’s pizza with a twist!
Something unexpected! Stir in a spoonful of red pesto into hummus, or green pesto into yogurt, sour cream, mayo dressing, vinaigrette, guacamole, or any other favourite condiment. The fresh flavours from pesto add delicious flavours to that raw-veggie crunch of celery, carrots, cherry tomatoes, bell peppers making it a delectable snack for young and old.
Why stop at raw veggies? Topping pesto on roasted veggies adds so much flavour and takes them from good to amazing. After roasting, take out of the oven and top with pesto while the veggies are still hot, so all the pesto goodness can seep in.
Brighten up mashed potatoes with a tablespoon or two of pesto stirred in! Nothing beats the fresh flavour of pesto. After you boil, drain, and mash the potatoes, simply stir in some pesto to taste. You can also turn leftover pesto mash into flavourful potato croquettes!
Compound butters are an easy way to make a simple meal feel instantly fancy! Just mix two parts butter to one part pesto. Make sure the butter is softened slightly, then simply whisk in the pesto and go! Perfect for bread, roasted vegetables, rice, chicken and fish! Simply delicious and colourful!
Alone or mixed with vegetables, cheeses, and/ or nuts, pesto can make a great filling for stuffed chicken breast. This is a relatively easy way to make a meal look and taste more formal. Add your fillings, fold them closed, and wrap them up as you would cook filled chicken breasts.
There are so many ways to use pesto with eggs! Whisk pesto into scrambled eggs before cooking or put a dollop on top of a fried egg. You can mix a spoonful into quiche or frittata before pouring the mixture into the crust or baking dish.. Any way you add pesto to egg dishes is simply delicious!
Impress your summer barbecue guests with pesto brushed on chargrilled meats. Just grill your steaks, chicken, pork, seafood, and kebabs as you normally would do, then brush with pesto to combine the freshness of herbs with the smokiness from the grill. Tip: Make sure to brush on pesto after grilling, so that it doesn’t burn!
Last but certainly not least, there’s nothing wrong with going classic! Toss pesto into your pasta or gnocchi! Eat alone with parmesan or add in roasted vegetables, chicken breast, steak, or pork chop for that extra crunch!
